The Zune Style

I came across Microsoft’s Zune site today when one of my BIA partners pointed out the unusual style. I thought it was unusual too for a while and then decided I just didn’t like it.
I do not think it is the color scheme because it is really not that bad. The top is however very [...]

Flash Runtime Bitmap Smoothing

Today I noticed how horrible your-at runtime loaded-bitmaps look in Adobe Flash when you rotate them. Horrible. When I tried to figure out why I never noticed that before I quickly came to the conclusion that I always relied on bitmaps from the library. There is no way to turn on Bitmap Smoothing using actionscript.
After [...]

Thank you Style Crunch. You made me dot the i's when it comes to valid XHTML 1.0 strict.

Background color reflection on icon

Today I whipped up an icon to replace the default folder icon with in Windows XP. It happens quite often that I will show a few image files to a Brothers in art client and these files usually sit in a plain yellow windows folder on the desktop. It was about time to fix that. [...]

Inman’s Heap

When Shaun Inman moved from his famous style to the rather experimental shape of ShaunInman.com/post featuring The Heap, I was a bit disappointed with the style. Well, no, I was really disappointed with the style.
Inman hit his site with another visual update however, and as you would expect he has out done himself once more. [...]

Obscuring relative blocks

In my previous post I described a problem I found when viewing Google's results page in Mozilla Firefox 2. Since Google has adjusted their CSS to prevent the problem, I decided to continue this story here instead of at the previous post.
Firefox 2 renders blocks, of which the position is explicitly set to relative using [...]

Firefox 2 Broke Google?

Update
31 Oktober 2006 - It appears Google's 'Dissatisfied form' is quite effective, or they came across the problem themselves. Either way, it seems they have adjusted the CSS and removed position:relative from the g class. Google's sponsored links work again, but I do feel that it is Firefox 2 that got it wrong. No word [...]

Rod Graves' Design Guide is absolutely brilliant. Not to mention the included Mini-Viewmaster™ portfolio.

Thank you CSS Remix.

ScrapBlog is doing what I have been playing with in my head for quite some time. It looks like they will be doing it pretty good too once they are out of beta.

OddSage Style

Recently I started using Sage RSS Reader for Firefox again, after a looong time. Apparently I only disabled the extention because upon installing I was faced with unstyled RSS feeds. A custom stylesheet was still configured, but no longer existed. Enough reason to whip up an OddSage style.
I made a point of not using images [...]

Oh good, a discussion on Design 2.0. I can not believe we now approach version two after centuries of design. Core77.com is pretty good though. Through Design Observer

Hotkey display

Earlier I wrote about Attaching hotkeys to links and how that now allows you to navigate my posts and pages using the left arrow key and right arrow key.
As very few will actually figure out this functionality I needed something to indicate it was there. Hence, the representation of keys and their functions that now [...]

GanttProject is a good, free tool if you don't need the maze of features that Microsoft Project is drenched in.

TextPad 4 for the XHTML and CSS magic with the power where you need it.

I've been watching Supernatural, Terminator:TSCC, Two and a Half Men and Breaking Bad. I'm just getting started with The Sopranos, I don't know why I waited so long. I watched all of Deadwood again, damn I enjoy watching Ian McShane.

Burnout Paradise is a bit of a let down, racing and navigating don't mix. Devil May Cry 4 and Bad Company I very much enjoyed. I'm halfway through Ninja Gaiden II, but this one is as tough as the previous game.

Young People F*cking was alright. Iron Man is the best superhero movie I've seen. I still have to see WALL-E. I can't wait for Pineapple Express to hit the theaters, that foot through the windshield cracks me up.

Leaving already? Take the RSS snacks.
