The Darkness Game →
Yeah, so I viewed the gameplay footage, saw it get hyped, read the review and bought it for the XBOX 360. Although The Darkness is pretty cool and I finished it in two non-stop 6 hour sessions, there’s a lot going on (or rather not going on) that makes me refrain from being too positive [...]
When your house is scheduled to be demolished, what else can you do but build a giant warp tunnel of wood straight through your old home?
The Sword of the New World MMORPG is now in public beta. It’s a bit unconventional but—at first glance—seems to bring hardly anything new to the table. If you’re tempted to check it out, prepare for a multiple GB download and remember it’s still very much in beta. There are a few US servers and one UK/German server.
I enjoyed reading John Maeda’s laws of simplicity. He also touches on some interesting subjects in his weekly blog entries.
I just came across Gaia Online. A social network with many MMORPG influences. The avatar customization and virtual environments are done really well, as is the ‘gold coins for activity’ system.
The Face Research experiments are very intriguing. It’s fun to merge various faces and weird how the result very often turns out to be an attractive face. Go play.
I can’t wait to see more of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, let alone play it. If they deliver, this game has everything that makes a true next gen game. Let’s hope they do. It’s set to release this November.
Lomography and Wet Floor Actions →
Although I do not use Photoshop actions very often, they are very convenient for simple tasks you perform often and complicated tasks you often get wrong. The two actions I am making available will perform the rather extensive steps of creating a digital lomography effect and the few simple steps to give images a wet [...]
I just installed Chris Iufer’s Relay to make the downloads I store on my server more manageable and accessible. Although it’s still in beta it seems pretty solid and the installation went alright. If you’re looking for a nice directory manager, give Relay a go.
Those of you who’ve read about vertical rhythm and gave it a shot probably quickly ran into issues with line height for the paragraphs set in smaller fonts. Mark introduces a CSS solution to fine-tune the vertical rhythm.

Anime series and movies →
In addition to my previous post Music, movies, tv and the web, here is a list of Japanese animation-or anime-series and movies that I love. Although most of these are considered quite mainstream and perhaps even rather western, they’ve definitely kept me glued to my screen for many hours. For the record, I watched the [...]
Insert em values for images →
Since this site is both my personal outlet and experimental lab, I've been altering my stylesheets to allow the entire layout of the site to be scaled. The changes I made previously are roughly outlined in this article. One thing that refused to scale in browers other than Internet Explorer 7 (and probably one or [...]
Hey Google, looking good →
I never thought I would say this and deep down inside I rather admired Google for sticking with their search page layout (and they still do).
For some time now you are able to click Personalize this page at the top right corner of the screen. As the label implies, this is where you modify Google [...]
I saw 300 a few days ago. Very intense movie. Not brilliant, but the photography and action kept me on the edge of my seat.
Music, movies, tv and the web →
I thought I would share some of my favorites when it comes to what I listen to, watch and use. Maybe you'll find something new and at the very least it tells you a bit more about my personal taste.
Music: The Killers
It was a The O.C. episode that first introduced me to The Killers and [...]
From px to em →
I'm in the process of converting most of my px values to em values. Since this site is not very heavy on images when it comes to its interface, I decided to explore the use of em values for more than just font sizes to allow the site to be enlarged in its entirety.
So far [...]
Yellow Tail merlot →
I like a fruity, easy red wine that doesn't just go well with a nice meal. Yellow Tail's merlot is such a wine and on top of that their bottle looks great.
It's affordable too, only about 5 euros a bottle. Their merlot is just one of many, but the only one I have come across.
If [...]
