Today I was looking for the definition of a word using Google and I couldn’t resist entering define:martin (view results). Google’s define: operator allows you to search the web for definitions. It was entertaining to see who and what else shares my first name, Martin Luther King aside.
- A 1977 horror film from director George A. Romero, where the main character Martin sedates women, slices their wrists and drinks their blood.
- A German monk and professor whose questioning of church practices led to the Protestant Reformation.
- A tool used to polish marble.
- A historical motorcycle brand.
- Any of various swallows that migrate around Martinmas, which in turn is the feast of Saint Martin on November 11th.
Sadly my last name, Kool, only shows the ‘KOOL’ menthol cigarette brand. In Dutch it returns the definition of ‘cabbage’, which is its exact translation.
